The
Emperor's Ball The Emperor’s Ball brings to the City of Saint Paul a culturally authentic celebration of the Germanic people in our community. The Ball is steeped in history, as it seeks to reflect the elegance and imperial pageantry of the Habsburg Empire while under the rule of Emperor Franz Josef. The Ball is patterned after those held in 1883 at the castle of the Emperor and his wife Empress Elisabeth, known as Sissi to her family. The summer home of the Emperor and Empress as Bad Ischl. The Emperor Franz Josef celebrated special traditions at his balls. Some of which will be incorporated in The Emperor’s Ball here in St. Paul: such as, the handkuss a tradition of recognition and honor bestowed upon a lady’s hand by the Emperor and the giving of roses to the ladies at The Ball.
